in the cell where 1400 resides, replace the contents with:

=1400+row()

Let's assume this is cell A2

shorthand for this:

A2=1400+row()

select cell A2, copy

select cells A2 thru the end of column A, paste

For a simple numerical series that increments by 1 for each row, starting at 1400 and ending at 3000, you will need 1601 rows. Assuming one header row, with the series starting immediately below the header, the last row of the table will be row 1602.

Start by using the Row control handle to extend your table downward until the last row is Row 1602.

In cell A2, enter this formula:

A2: =1400+ROW()-2

Confirm the entry by clicking the green checkmark.

Select cell A2. Copy.

Click the column A reference tab (in the bar above the table) to select ALL cells in column A.

Command-click on Cell A1 to remove it from the selection. Paste.

Optional:

If you want fixed values in this list, continue with these two steps:

With all cells still selected, Copy.

Go Edit (menu) > Paste Formula Results

This replaces all formulas in the column with the last values calculated by those formulas.

Just fill in the first two cells of the sequence, then select the two cells, hover along the lower edge of the selection until a yellow dot appears, then drag the yellow dot down the column:

Sure, why not? Here's to row 3201. Could easily have done it for far more cells.

All you have to do is drag the = handle down at the lower left of table (pictured here just below the 3201) until you have enough rows in the table (you have to do something like that for a formula approach anyway.) Then just grab the yellow dot and drag it down the column. The Numbers table scrolls nicely. Done in a second or so.
